Coming of Age as a Writer

The British Library

artofthestate.co.uk
The British Library showcased that genres such as novels and religious text were more frequently produced than other works such as poems or short stories. This library also housed many works of songwriters such as Handel, Mozart, and even the beloved Beatles.

The Imperial War Museum
During World War II families had to make due with what was available, which was not much. Families were given ration booklets that only allowed them to obtain a certain amount of food to feed everyone in their household.

During the war, everyone was encouraged to carry their gas mask with them at all times in case there was a bombing, especially the children. When kids were evacuated they didn't know if they would ever see their families again.

The Florence Nightingale Museum
Florence Nightingale was an iconic figure in the field of nursing. She revolutionized the profession and required that all of her nurses wear uniforms so that they could be easily identifiable and also viewed as figures of authority.

Even at the end of her life Florence Nightingale continued to remain an active part of nursing. She wrote about many aspects of the field of nursing that are still used today.

  2. I also liked how you captured the art installation that reflects on how Florence was such a prolific writer, even despite of (or because of) her invalidism.
